Is Dating over 50 still ideal?

A lot of people usually get married in their twenties. Those in the thirties might be considered late but they are still ideal. However, those who are already in their fifties might be thinking if it is still ideal for them to fall in love. Another question that is related to the first one is this. Is it still ideal for widows or widowers to remarry in their old age?

There are so many factors that make old people believe that love is not for them anymore. One of the factors is, of course, old age. Elder folks do not look as young as what they used to be. Wrinkles could be present in almost every part of the face. Most of their hair strands are already grey, and some are even suffering from balding already. In short, they are not that attractive anymore. Another reason why old people are afraid to engage in relationships is that they are suffering from diseases. Diseases such as diabetes and arthritis are definitely lowering the self-confidence of other people. After all, how are they going to take care of their partners if they are having difficulties in taking care of themselves?

•    Love is timeless - Who ever said that only young people can love? Love is a feeling that lasts forever. It is not something that can be turned on and off. Any human will still continue to love another no matter what his age is. Old people might be trying to convince themselves that they are not in love. However, no matter how hard they try, if they really love somebody, they will not be able to control their feelings.

•    Love is not Based on Physical Appearance – As discussed earlier, a lot of people do not want to marry or remarry because they are too conscious about their looks. If a person looks at a mirror, and all he sees are wrinkles and old hair, it will not be difficult for him to increase his self-pity. Nevertheless, who ever said that people should only love beautiful individuals? Real beauty is not based on physical appearance. It is based on right character and personality. Dating over 50 can still be done in spite of physical appearance.

•    Love is all about Happiness – Just because a person is over fifty years old does not mean he has to stop being happy. Dating over 50 can still be a nice activity that old people can do. Physical intimacy might not be a factor at this point of life. Nevertheless, there are still some elder folks who are still vigorous when it comes to intimacy. They can still satisfy the sexual needs of their partners even if their body is weaker. However, physical intimacy is not the main issue. The main issue is that there is nothing wrong in falling in love especially if that is what makes a person happy.

Dating over 50 could sound ridiculous to a lot of people. However, old people should not be affected by norms or hearsays. Every person has the right to love another individual.
